Tell Congress to Make Emergency Aid Available for Zoos and Aquariums
Zoos and Aquariums need your help responding to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis. Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA)-accredited non-profits like Audubon Nature Institute are suffering significant hardships while facing the unique challenge of retaining sufficient staff and supplies to care for their animals. Temporarily closing to the public or reducing operations impacts their ability to generate the revenue they need to survive, straining budgets and forcing difficult staffing decisions.
The recently passed CARES Act was a tremendous effort to support those individuals and businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The legislation omits, however, any foregivable assistance for zoo’s, aquariums and museums that employ more than 500 people, such as Audubon.
Please contact Congress and the White House to express your support for providing larger nonprofits such as zoos, aquariums, and museums in upcoming legislation so we can continue supporting our local, state and regional communities and economies. Recommended letter topics include:
